First, any set of bits that are titanium coated should be decent bits. That's the main reason I took the risk and decided to purchase this set. It is priced at the low end of the medium range for Forstner bit sets. Certainly there are cheaper sets and more expensive sets. I've read enough reviews to know that purchase of any of the very low end sets which run around half the price of this set would be a mistake. Issues include out of round or non-concentricity of bits.But, I figured that any set that comes titanium coated should be decent bits even if they are not the best. Indeed, the manufacturer of the bits seemed to do a decent job. The bits were concentric, with decent cutting design. That's where the positives end...with the manufacture of the bits themselves.When I opened the case, the bits were all jammed into one corner of their wooden case. As a result, all of the bits were scratched and badly 'dinged'. That includes the cutting edges. The wooden case was so poorly built that the Forstner bits were free to "float" inspite of the foam padding inside of the wooden case. That's because the strip of wood that supports the foam was glued into the box crooked - very sloppy. Furthermore, the two wooden runners that are supposed to support the bit shanks in two places were grooved poorly with some grooves deep as designed and some hardly grooved at all. This entire construction of the wooden case was so poorly done...and THAT is why the bits were damaged. Furthermore, if the bits were not damaged I would have removed the wooden supports inside the case and remade them so that the bits would fit properly. Nevertheless, it was the poor construction of the case that resulted in the virtual destruction of all the Forstner Bits in the set.In addition, it was most likely whoever built the wooden case was responsible for loading the bits - also done very sloppy. The 1 3/4" bit was missing, and there were two 1 5/8" bits!? The net result was an incomplete set (not as described) with all bits having damage. Worse yet, how can titanium coated bits rust? The bits have rust spots. That's the main reason I wanted titanium coated bits.In summary, the seller was irresponsible here in shipping that set of bits in the condition they were in (aside from the rust spots that were NOT part of the damage, the condition of the case made it obvious that this set would be damaged during shipment). I will never again risk purchasing from Jane Yu or CMT.There are two positive aspects of my experience; One, whoever manufactured the bits did a decent job and two - thank God for Amazon, with their prompt, satisfactory and well thought out complaint response. Amazon is great. I have a 98% very positive experience with my many purchases through Amazon. This one is a rare exception.

Good is about the best I can give this set. Several of the bits aren't balanced properly, so only one blade actually does the cutting. Quality is what you would expect from china or where ever they were made. My next set will be something made in the USA, and I will gladly pay more.

The product listing shows a "by CMT" link that takes you to a long list of products from well known tool maker CMT Utensili, maker of CMT Orange Tools. The product that is shipped is a classic no-name Chinese made package that does not actually make any real claim to be from any brand but does have the initials C.M.T. printed on it in orange letters. It was not the CMT logo but it really felt like it was designed to mislead.The Forstner bits that I received were the lowest quality items I've seen in a long time. Unlike the only other reviewer currently listed my shipment arrived with all the bits safely tucked into their respective holding bays...but what I received still looked like someone had tossed some soft metal items into a clothes dryer and put them through a dry cycle. Every bit was dinged heavily and many of the teeth were bent...yes bent over. For grins I picked a midsize bit that was in about average condition, fit it to my 3/4 HP drill press and set about drilling a hole in a kiln dried Douglas Fir 2x4. It took a couple of minutes of plunging and clearing to make what might pass for a hole only the depth of the main cutting barrel of the bit...about 5/8" deep. What was left was a roundish depression that looked like I had torn through the wood with a skillfully chip sharpened rock. I find it hard to imagine that there was any attempt to make a sharp bit at all. Even without the bent teeth the bits seem to lack pretty much anything in the way of a sharp edge.Amazon of course took care of me with a refund. Hopefully this product entry from an Amazon affiliate will be fixed soon.
