First of all, these are great-working bits and I am generally quite happy with the set that I got. The bits cut very smoothly in difficult woods and stay cool. The RotaStop feature seems very effective and makes for quick bit setup/changes with the Colt adapter and extra security in a regular chuck - very good with the high torques that Forstner bits experience. Five stars except for the 1/2" bit. Unlike all of the other bits in the set, this bit does not have a wrench flat on the shank to aid in removal from the Colt RotaStop adapter (RotaStop receiver x #2 Morse taper). On the first use the bit shank jammed in the adapter as if welded. The bits with a flat are very easy to pop loose with a light twist. of a wrench. This one defies every trick in the book. For some reason Colt skipped the flat on the smallest bit - and now I have a rather costly (the bit and the adapter) problem in my hands. Waiting a while for a response from Colt.Colt did not respond. On day five I asked Amazon if they could do anything for me, and they immediately offered a more than fair discount (partial refund) or full refund if I wanted to return the purchase.Meanwhile, I carefully filed flats on the shank of the bit and got a grip with Vise-Grips. The bit moved and I was able to work the pieces apart. The mating portion of the bit shank is not marred at all but there are some bright spots inside the adapter. Adapter still seems to work OK with the other bits in the set. I can see that the bit went too far into the adapter - deeper than the other bits in the set go in - and this caused it to seize up inside the adapter. I'll order a replacement bit and see how it works.And finally: OK, the replacement bit does not stick in the adapter (it does wedge in like it should, but can be removed). Colt never responded in any way.
